Step 1: Planting
Cauliflower begins from seeds in the greenhouse. After 35 days the young plants are transplanted to the field to grow for another 80 to 110 days.
Step 2: Growing
The cauliflower we eat is the flower in the center of the plant. As the flower forms, it is very important to protect is from the sun. Workers will fold the large outer leaves of of the plant over the head of the cauliflower to prvent it from turning yellow.
Step 3: Haveresting
Workers hand pick the cauliflower. Workders may make 5 to 6 trips through each row over a few weeks to check to see if the cauliflower is ready. They carefully select those ready for harvest.
Step 4: Packaging
Cauliflower is packed carefully in the field. The leaves are trimmed and it is boxed to prevent brusing. The boxes are then iced to keep the cauliflower fresh.
